IEEE Student Branches provide an opportunity that will help students to develop their professional identity in IEEE’s designated fields of interest such as sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics. An active IEEE Student Branch can be one of the most positive elements of academic career, offering programs, activities, and professional networking opportunities to the students that help them to build critical skills outside of the classroom.

IEEE student branch of GEC Kozhikode (GECK) was formed in 2012 with the aim of involving the students in technology based activities that lead to the development of humanity, which in turn paves the way for the professional development of the students. IEEE SB of GECK comes under

Malabar subsection which in turn comes under the Kerala section.

An IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) affinity group and an IEEE Industry and Automation society (IEEE IAS) student branch was also formed in 2020.

We aim at providing the students opportunities for exploring new technologies in different engineering fields, by developing new professional platforms for networking thereby making them capable to grab the career opportunities.

Our Mission is to

  • To make the students aware about the latest technical advancements.
  • To inculcate the culture of teamwork, and responsibility by encouraging them to organize events.
  • To make them acquainted with various useful technologies by conducting workshops and training programs.
  • To enable the students to take up innovative projects and internships.
  • An overall professional development making the students to adapt to the industry requirements

Embedded System Workshop

IEEE Student Branch GEC Kozhikode organized a workshop on EMBEDDED SYSTEM DESIGN AND PROGRAMMING for the sixth semester BTech students in the electronics department. There were Nienty student participents in which 62 from S6 AE&I and the other 28 from S6 EC.The Nienty students were divided into two batches and the workshop conducted for each batch in different days.

The workshop for the first batch was conducted on 28-02-2015 and 01-03-2015, started at 10.00 AM and lasted till 5.00 PM.The workshop was taken by a private firm LIWET LABS. There were three members in their team. The batch of students were further divided into two and they got training independently. The reduced number of students in a team made the classes more interacting and the teacher was able to manage the class effectively. This made the programming section very easy.

The workshop for second batch students were conducted on 08-03-2015 and 09-03-2015, started at 10.00 AM and lasted till 5.00 PM.IEEE Student Branch GEC Kozhikode provided participation certificates to the participants after the successful completion of the two day workshop. The workshop was targeted to the mini project of the pre-final year students and it was very effective for them. The feedback from the participants was great.
